Should I chase the thunder?

Should I chase the thunder?

isaiah 43:19

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009, was a turning point.

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”

There is no doubt that God is paving ways and streams on campus.

There is no doubt that God is planting seeds in my mind.

But an essential part of myself is still a wasteland, ravaged by droughts of doubt and harsh rays of egotism that are of my own doing. There’s not a single green bud in sight. Just miles and miles of rocky fissures, deep crevasses that cuts painfully to the root..

What are the roots that clutch, what branches grow
Out of this stony rubbish? Son of man,
You cannot say, or guess, for you know only
A heap of broken images, where the sun beats,
And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief,
And the dry stone no sound of water.

T.S. Eliot

RAIN, I beseech you now, pour down on me and flood me with your healing embrace.

That’s right. My mom got me a BANKER’S LAMP. Didn’t even know what that was until I saw it sitting on my table, all brassy and…green. Won’t lie and say it doesn’t look awfully misplaced, but funnily enough, I think I’m growing rather fond of it.

For we, we are not long here.
Our time is but a breath, so we better breathe it.
And I, I was made to live, I was made to love, I was made to know you.
– “C.S. Lewis Song” by Brooke Fraser

“Shadowfeet” by Brooke Fraser

Walking,stumbling on these shadowfeet
toward home,a land that i’ve never seen
I am changing: less and less asleep
made of different stuff than when i began
and i have sensed it all along
fast approaching is the day

When the world has fallen out from under me
I’ll be found in you, still standing
when the sky rolls up and mountains fall on their knees
when time and space are through
I’ll be found in you

Theres distraction buzzing in my head
saying in the shadows it’s easier to stay
but I’ve heard rumours of true reality
whispers of a well-lit way

You make all things new

When the world has fallen out from under me
I’ll be found in you, still standing
Every fear and accusation under my feet
when time and space are through
I’ll be found in you

FOR WE WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT. (2 Cor 5:7)

I don’t know much about guitar-playing, but the technique in that song sounds pretty craaaazy to me.

Remember LFO? Always thought they were cheesy, but if anyone can put an LFO song on replay in my head, it’s Gabe Bondoc.

Oh, I totally want to read the book and watch the movie! It’s such an interesting premise, and the chemistry between Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams is breathtaking. I have a feeling it’s going to be right up there with The Notebook and A Walk to Remember in terms of Top Romantic Tearjerkers of All Time.
